One of the pains we hear from storage admins is that in working with LUNs and volumes they feel like they are constantly playing Storage Tetris. They’re moving cumbersome shapes around to make everything fit. And it's pretty frustrating when their storage just doesn't want to cooperate.
So, we thought we would have a little fun with the subject and, to add to our list of storage firsts, create our own game – Storage Tintris. It’s now available for download in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
The basic gameplay is simple. You've got your VM blocks in the bottom, and you've got to fit them into the storage grid above. Making a line will clear them, but if you aren't careful, you'll run into some capacity issues
Just like in storage, that's where Tintri comes to save the day. By tapping the Tintri Power-up button on the upper-right, you can use a whole variety of Tintri products to kick your game up a notch. SyncVM can wind you back in time when you get blocked up. ReplicateVM can create three perfect blocks. When you use Tintri, you can make everything fit a whole lot better.
Unlike Storage Tetris, you'll actually want to play Storage Tintris. So we've added a bunch of worlds to explore. From the basic “Virtual World,” where you have two minutes to score as many points as possible, to “Flash World,” which proves it’s important to see what you’re doing... dig in and have fun.
Storage Tetris is a chore, but Storage Tintris is right up our alley. That’s because when it comes to storage for virtualization and cloud, Tintri is the only game in town.
Unique control with VM-level actions for infrastructure functions including snapshots, replication and QoS make protection and performance certain in production, and accelerate test and development cycles.
