vSphere Web Client Plugin 2.0 Released

The completely revamped Tintri vSphere Web Client Plugin 2.0 is available from the Tintri Support Portal. As always, the plugin is free to download and use with your Tintri VMstores.

The 2.0 version has a number of improvements over the previous release including:

  • User Interface Redesign: The 2.0 user interface is completely re-done and, as a result, is a lot easier to use and integrates much better with the vSphere user interface.
  • Role Based Access Control: Custom Tintri roles and privileges integrate with VMware’s vSphere role based access control mechanism to enable granular control over Tintri storage views and actions.
  • SyncVM: Refresh one or multiple vDisks, Restore VM and File Level Recovery. Now you can do this right from the VMware client.
  • QoS:  Configure QoS right from the vSphere Web Client.

New User Interface

The Tintri vSphere Web Client plugin has always been a great way to manage your Tintri storage from the VMware user interface. With the 2.0 plugin version, navigating Tintri features and capabilities has gotten a whole lot easier. For example, here is a screenshot of how VMstores are consolidated in a single Tintri plugin view.

New User Interface

Viewing per-VMstore and per-VM analytics is as easy as clicking on the VMstore or VM you are interested in.

SyncVM, QoS and more

Setting protection schedules, using SyncVM and configuring QoS can be done from the same consolidated Tintri plugin view that is part of the redesigned user interface. The same goes for using Tintri optimized snapshots and clones. Select the VMstore or the VM you are interested in and take the needed action.

Role Based Access Control

With all the capabilities of the Tintri vSphere Web Client plugin, it is important to allow the administrator to restrict access. The new plugin introduces Tintri specific roles and privileges that integrate with the vSphere native RBAC controls to allow very granular control over what a user can do. Basically, if it’s a Tintri action in the plugin, you can decide who gets to use it.

Role Based Access Control

The Tintri vSphere Web Client plugin is a great tool that enables you to manage your Tintri storage right from the vSphere user interface. The newly available version 2.0 of the plugin is easier to use, has more functionality and introduces RBAC to enable fine-grained control over who has access to storage.
