Tintri, Inc. (hereinafter “Tintri”) respects each individual’s right to personal privacy. We will collect and use information we receive directly from you through our Web site only in the ways disclosed in this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy applies solely to information we collect directly from you on the Tintri Web site (the “Web Site”). This policy does not apply to the practices of Tintri that Tintri does not own or control, or to individuals that Tintri does not employ or manage. This Privacy Policy does not govern or apply to Tintri’s products themselves, or any Tintri customers’ use of Tintri products to collect information.

Information Collection

Tintri collects the following information through the Web Site session data and information that you enter on the Web Site or provide to us in any other way. Individuals are free to change the personal information that Tintri has collected from them and to unsubscribe from any and all Tintri communications at any time by stating such preferences in an email to The manner in which we collect this information is described below.

Session Data

We collect information on the pages you have visited and the contents of those pages, any information you input, your referring URL or IP address, your time of visit and related session information, your device type, your requested page, Web browser type, USR agent, status of request (successful reply), cookies, number of bytes in the response, and query string. We use this data to better understand Web site usage in the aggregate so that we know what areas of our Web site users prefer. This information is stored in log files and is used for aggregated and statistical reporting.


Tintri employs cookies. Cookies are small text files placed on your computer by a Web site. Cookies enable Tintri to track usage patterns and deliver customized content to users. These cookies cannot read information from your hard drive. Tintri uses cookies to collect and store your User ID. The User ID is not personally identifiable to you. The information is only used to identify repeat visitors. Tintri also uses temporary session cookies to assign and store a Session ID to you so that you can move uninterrupted between areas of our Web Site. Tintri also uses the Session ID for internal reporting purposes. This Session ID is not personally identifiable to you and this type of cookie does not leave any retrievable information on your hard drive. The User ID does not have an expiration date. Session IDs expire when the browser is closed.

Most browsers have an option for turning off the cookie feature, which will prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, as well as (depending on the sophistication of your browser software) allowing you to decide on acceptance of each new cookie in a variety of ways. We recommend that you leave the cookies activated.

Registration and Questionnaires

For visitors interested in registering to download a document or participating in a marketing campaign offering, we ask that they register with us by supplying their name and basic contact information. Tintri verifies the email address conforms to standard email address requirements. Tintri may also ask you to provide information about:

Tintri also has a voluntary mailing list where users can supply their email address to facilitate periodic communications from Tintri. Individuals that voluntarily register for the mailing list are automatically subscribed to the Tintri voluntary mailing list.

Transparent GIFs

We employ a software technology called clear gifs (a.k.a. Web Beacons), that help us better manage content and advertising on our site by informing us what is effective. Some of these files may be provided by our advertising management partners or advertisers. Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of Web users. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on a user’s computer hard drive, clear gifs are embedded invisibly on Web pages and are about the size of the period at the end of this sentence. This information does not include personally identifiable information, and we do not tie the information gathered by clear gifs to your personal information without informing you in each particular instance. We may also use clear gifs in our HTML-based emails to let us know which emails have been opened by recipients. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of certain communications and the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns, but you will always have the choice not to receive such emails.

Tintri does not actively market to children, and we never knowingly ask a child under 18 to divulge personal information.

We do this by implementing industry standard security procedures for storing and accessing information.
